Santa Barbara County’s Third District has new boundaries!

The new boundaries for Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisor Districts were redrawn in 2021. The new Third District boundaries unify the mid-county communities’ voice. But we need representation who understands and commits to that purpose.

I want to be that voice and vote for us on the Board of Supervisors.

I have been passionate about Lompoc and the north county for the past 11 years, as my resume reflects, working to create supportive, vibrant, and unique communities on California's Central Coast. Residing in Goleta for year and a half and then Lompoc for 23 years, I have seen the changes as well as the impacts happening across the county. As Lompoc’s mayor I worked on difficult issues, often in an uphill battle, but things are improving. I want to take that experience and work for our Third District creating a place we are all proud to call home, where we have opportunities to succeed, and we feel safe and hopeful.

Sadly, many of the issues we are all dealing with are county decisions that we haven’t had much say in.

Buellton, Goleta, Lompoc, Solvang, and the unincorporated areas of the district are experiencing the many of the same problems: homelessness, workforce housing shortage, employment challenges, long commutes, expensive or no childcare, to name a few. But the one-size fits all solutions are creating other issues for Los Olivos, Santa Ynez, Solvang and Goleta such as builder’s remedy applications, agricultural land challenges, infrastructure maintenance and improvements - the list is long.

The Third District needs representation with lived experience who understands the distinctive and varied concerns of its reorganized constituents.

I will focus on providing direction and policies that are in the best interest of all residents, businesses, and organizations. I am not registered with any political party because I understand that the County Supervisor position is non-partisan, and the problems cannot be solved along political party lines. I am confident we can improve the Third District and truly deliver on the county’s motto of “One County, One Future” with a more balanced approach. I look forward to hearing your concerns and ideas.

Thank you for your vote on March 5, 2024. - Jenelle
